Goldsby Gutters and Downspouts, Water Off the Wall

New gutter runs, outlets and downspouts so water leaves the eave and does not sit against the fascia or the foundation.

When the gutter is the problem

A sound roof can still hand water to a bad gutter. Overflow at the eave runs behind the fascia, stains the siding, and keeps the starter course wet. A downspout that dumps at the foundation is a different problem from a roof leak, and treating it as one wastes a shingle repair.

Gutter work here is a new run, a corrected outlet, or a downspout that actually discharges away from the house. It is not a coating painted into a trough that has already pulled off the fascia.

What the gutter scope names

The list names the eave length, the size of the trough, where the outlets go, where each downspout lands, and whether the old gutter has to come off first. It notes a fascia that is soft, because a new gutter screwed to rotten wood will sag the same way. If the roof edge needs a drip edge so water enters the trough instead of running behind it, that piece is on the list too.

Guards are included only when you ask for them and the scope says which eave gets them. They are not assumed.

What is included

Removal of the old run when that is part of the list, new hangers, outlets, downspouts, and elbows aimed so the discharge does not land against the foundation. The crew checks that water from a hose or a bucket actually reaches the outlet instead of standing in a belly. Nails and offcuts from the eave are picked up with the rest of the debris.

What the visit checks

We look at pitch of the existing trough, the outlets, and the ground where downspouts end. You get a list of which eaves are in the job. An eave that is fine stays. We do not replace a whole house of gutters because one corner overflowed, unless the rest of the run is pulled off the fascia and the scope says that.

How the work sits with a roof job

Gutters often go on after a replacement, once the drip edge and the starter are in. They can also be their own day when the roof is staying. The scope says which it is so the gutter crew is not standing under a tear-off. A single-story run is usually a one-day job. Two stories and long eaves take what the length takes.

Why the discharge matters as much as the trough

A new gutter that dumps at the corner of the foundation moved the water three feet. The scope names where the downspout ends so the job is finished at the ground, not at the eave. The person who wrote that list is the one you call if a corner still overflows after the first hard rain.
